What GENESIS is

GENESIS — Gen-Next Support for Innovative Startups — is a scheme run by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to discover, grow and nurture technology startups over a five-year horizon, with a budgetary outlay of ₹490 crore. Its defining feature is geographic: it exists specifically to strengthen the startup ecosystem in India's Tier-II and Tier-III cities, rather than concentrating support in the established metros.

The Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EiR) track within GENESIS supports first-generation founders and student innovators with grant funding of up to ₹10 lakh over a one-year period, alongside structured mentorship and physical incubation — carrying a venture from ideation through to working prototype and solution validation.

Why the selection matters for MeasureMaster

  • It is a deep-tech mandate, not a general startup grant. GENESIS targets electronics, IT and deep-tech ventures — which is exactly where an industrial machine-vision metrology engine sits.
  • It validates the Tier-II thesis. MeasureMaster is built in Ghaziabad, for the wire, fastener and tube units of the NCR industrial belt. The programme is designed for precisely that geography.
  • It is milestone-linked. Grant support under EiR is tied to moving from idea to demonstrated prototype and validation — the funding tracked real technical progress.
  • It is non-dilutive. The grant funded core R&D without giving away equity at the earliest and most fragile stage of the company.

About these figures

Programme details above — the ₹490 crore scheme outlay, the up-to-₹10-lakh EiR grant ceiling, the one-year duration and the Tier-II/III focus — describe the GENESIS scheme as published by MeitY and its implementing incubators. The ₹7,00,000 figure is the grant awarded to MeasureMaster specifically.

Journey

Milestones So Far

From a shop-floor observation to a funded, working measurement platform.

The Observation

A gap hiding in plain sight

Working close to wire and metal-forming units in the Ghaziabad industrial belt made one thing obvious: die roundness was almost never actually measured. Diameter was checked; ovality was assumed. The instruments that could check it properly cost more than the plants could justify.

Problem Validation

Confirming it was not just one plant

Conversations across wire drawing, fastener and tube units confirmed the same pattern repeatedly — calendar-based die reconditioning, micrometer-only checks, and scrap traced back to tooling geometry only after the fact.

Prototype

First working measurement engine

Development of the core pipeline: sub-pixel contour recovery, full 360° diameter sweep, ovality and circularity computation, and a confidence score attached to every result. Built to run on affordable optics rather than laboratory instruments.

Recognition

Selected for MeitY GENESIS EiR Cohort 2 — ₹7,00,000 grant

MeasureMaster was selected as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence under Cohort 2 of the Government of India's GENESIS scheme, receiving a non-dilutive grant of ₹7,00,000 together with structured mentorship and incubation support to advance from prototype to validated solution.

Product

Public analysis engine and AI insight layer

Release of the browser-based analyzer with annotated overlays, diameter-vs-angle plots, full CSV export and an AI interpretation layer that converts geometry into plain-language diagnosis and corrective action.

Now

Pilot deployments and fleet trending

Working with manufacturing partners on inline and bench deployments, and building per-die history so reconditioning can shift from a fixed calendar to a condition-based trigger.

Ahead

What the Grant Is Building

Accuracy Hardening

Systematic characterisation against calibrated reference artefacts to publish defensible accuracy figures rather than marketing ones.

Inline Hardware Kit

A reference camera-and-lighting configuration that removes glare as a variable and makes results repeatable plant-to-plant.

Die History Engine

Per-die trend tracking so ovality growth becomes predictive and pull-points are triggered by condition.

Plant Pilots

Structured pilots across wire, fastener and tube units to convert measured geometry into demonstrated scrap reduction.
